The box bundle contains everything you need to get started PGB EA11011D-120 power adapter (rated at 100W), a pair of Ethernet cables, fixing screws for 2.5in drives, two drive bay keys and a quick install guide. The rear of the box carries a small list of some of the DS920+ hardware features and a package content list.īoth sides of the box have icons and small descriptions of some of the uses and features of the DS920+ File Sharing, Anywhere Access, Cloud Sync, Multimedia, Mobile Support and Data Security. Under the image is a panel with four icons representing features of the NAS Quad-core CPU with AES-NI, expandable storage and RAM, 2 x LAN with Link Aggregation support and the fact it supports for two M.2 NVMe SSD for caching duties.
The label contains an image of the unit and which of the DiskStation series it is. The Synology DiskStation DS920+ arrives in a smallish brown box with a label on the top right-hand corner. Internal File System support: Btrfs or EXT4.ĭimensions (D x W x H): 223 x 199 x 166mm. RAID support: SynologyHybrid RAID, RAID 0,1,5,6 and 10. Rear panel connectors: 1 x USB 3.0, 1 x eSATA. Processor: Intel Celeron J4125 (quad-core 2.0GHz, 2.7GHz burst). Synology back the DS920+ with a 3-year warranty. Synology quote Sequential throughput performance for the DS920+ as up to 225.99MB/s for reads and 225.90MB/s for writes although those figures are from the NAS being tested with both LAN ports being used in Link Aggregation mode. It also supports an AES-NI hardware encryption engine. Powered by an Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz (burst up to 2.7GHz) the DiskStation DS920+ comes with 4GB of DDR4-2666MHz memory but should you need more the motherboard supports up to 8GB via a single SO-DIMM slot. The DiskStation DS920+ comes with support for a pair of M.2 NVMe SSD slots for performing cache operations.
You can protect on-appliance data as the Snapshot Replication app runs manual and scheduled snapshots of Btrfs volumes, while the Hyper Backup app manages all local, remote, Rsync, cloud and iSCSI LUN backups.Sitting under Synology's Personal and Home User banner, the DiskStation DS920+ is the latest addition to the companies 4-bay NAS lineup in the Plus series.
The appliance’s high capacity makes it an ideal backup vault, and DSM 7 offers an impressive range of apps to support this, with the slick Active Backup for Business (ABB) protecting data on Windows workstations and servers as well as VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines.
The overhauled Storage Manager app is even more informative, and an advantage of using Synology’s storage devices is that it can update their firmware automatically. The DSM 7 operating system is pleasing to use and its revamped web console provides easy access to all features. When you run the web console quick-start wizard, it will block you from using the default administrator username, and you can tighten up access controls further with 2FA. Synology takes security seriously, and the appliance has a separate gigabit port for placing management traffic on a private network. For testing, we loaded four 8TB HAT5300 disks, which were accepted without any issues, but use uncertified drives and Synology will decline to provide support. You can use the slot to improve your network outlook further too, and the appliance supports a good range of 10GbE adapters from Synology and Intel.īe careful with your choice of storage devices, though, as the DS3622xs+ is one of Synology’s enterprise models and only supports Synology’s HAT5300 hard disks and SAT5200 SSDs. The DS3622xs+ lacks internal M.2 SSD slots but its PCIe expansion bay accepts Synology’s E10M20-T1 dual M.2 NVMe SSD card, which adds an extra 10GbE port to the mix. A notable change is that the Infiniband expansion ports on its predecessor have been replaced with mini-SAS HD ports that support two DX1222 12-bay desktop units. Stepping up as a timely successor to the elderly DS3617xsII, the DS3622xs+ has a speedier 6-core Intel Xeon D-1531 CPU, although the base 16GB of ECC DDR4 memory remains the same, as does the maximum 48GB.
